Trimethylsilyl 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,4-nonafluoro-1-butanesulfonate is a fluorinated alkyl sulfonate that is used in organic synthesis as a silylating agent. It reacts with nucleophiles to form an ether or ester bond. Trimethylsilyl 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,4-nonafluoro-1-butanesulfonate is used in the synthesis of carbapenem antibiotics and other bioactive compounds. It also reacts with thionyl chloride to produce trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and hydrogen chloride. Trimethylsilyl 1,1,2,2,3,3,-4,-4,-4-nonafluoro-1-butanesulfonate has been shown to have a low toxicity in rats and mice
