The drug also reduces blood pressure by inhibiting the activity of angiotensin II, which is a potent vasoconstrictor. H-DL-Val-Leu-Arg-pNA acetate salt has been shown to increase urea nitrogen levels by inhibiting the activity of alkaline phosphatase, which breaks down ammonia in the liver.
