Descrição:2-Vinylphenol is a phenolic compound that has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by inhibiting enzyme activity. 2-Vinylphenol was shown to be effective against a wide range of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Bacillus subtilis. This compound binds to the active site of the enzymes using hydrogen bonding interactions and then inhibits their activity. It also inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the DNA in an intramolecular fashion and preventing replication. 2-Vinylphenol also has anti-inflammatory effects through its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
