Pentadecylcyclohexane is a hydrocarbon with the chemical formula CH. It has a diameter of 0.5 nm and is an aromatic hydrocarbon. It is used as a thermal catalyst in organic synthesis, specifically for the conversion of hexane to solvents such as pentane and heptane, or for the production of styrene from benzene. The particle's hydroxyl group makes it soluble in water, which can be used to make microspheres for use in drug delivery systems. Pentadecylcyclohexane has been shown to have anti-HIV activity in human T cells and macrophages, and has also been shown to inhibit the growth of malonic acid-induced cancer cells in mice by inhibiting DNA synthesis.
