N-(4-Amino-3-methylphenyl)acetamide is a chemical that has been shown to be sensitizing to human skin. It has been used in the optimization of skin sensitization tests, and is currently undergoing clinical trials for its use as a surrogate marker for skin sensitization. N-(4-Amino-3-methylphenyl)acetamide has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the proliferation of keratinocytes and can be used in the treatment of psoriasis. This drug was also one of the first chemicals to be identified as an antigen for use in cocultured assays with keratinocyte cells.
