- Piperazine, 1,4-Bis(2-Pyridinylmethyl)-
1,4-Bis-pyridin-2-ylmethyl-piperazine is a ligand that binds to catalytic sites on enzymes. It has been shown to be active in the epoxidation of methylcyclohexene and 1,3-cyclohexadiene. The coordination geometry of 1,4-Bis-pyridin-2-ylmethyl-piperazine is tetradentate with four oxygen atoms and two nitrogen atoms. This ligand has also been shown to coordinate well with metal ions, such as copper and zinc. Crystals of this compound diffract X rays well at single crystal level. This ligand may have potential applications in the catalytic conversion of epoxides.
