3-Amino-6-bromopyrazine-2-thiol is an experimental corrosion inhibitor that has been shown to be effective against potassium ethyl xanthate. It is a molecule with two amino groups and one sulfide group, which are linked together by a C=S bond. The molecule has an electronegativity of 0.9, which means it is more electron rich than other molecules such as the orthoesters and organic amines. 3-Amino-6-bromopyrazine-2-thiol also has a low molecular weight, which makes it more reactive in comparison to the orthoesters and organic amines. This compound was studied using computational chemistry and was found to have a lower resistance to corrosion than the other compounds.
