Anisylbutyrat is a vanillyl alcohol compound that has been shown to react with benzoate, antimicrobial agents, skin care, and sweetener. The reaction yield of anisylbutyrat is optimized by reacting it with an aldehyde. Anisylbutyrat has also been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumonia. It is used in the synthesis of ternary complexes for use in synthetic reactions.
