Descrição:3-Methoxy-2-methylphenol is a potent inhibitor of cytochrome P450 monooxygenases. It is an effective inhibitor of the CYP1A2, CYP2C9 and CYP3A4 isoforms, with IC50 values ranging from 0.6 to 2.4 μM. 3-Methoxy-2-methylphenol also inhibits vanillyl alcohol oxidase (VAO) and 4-hydroxyphenylacetaldehyde reductase (HPR), which are involved in the metabolism of vanillin or catechol estrogens. The inhibition of these enzymes leads to increased concentrations of vanillin and catechol estrogens in the blood and urine. 3-Methoxy-2-methylphenol has been shown to have synergistic effects when combined with trifluoroacetic acid, which is used as a solvent for organic solvents in pharmaceuticals production.
