It is obtained by recycling from the filtrate of benzoic acid. THBP can be synthesized using an acylation reaction with ethylene glycol and sodium hydrogen chloride. The optimal reaction time is between 1 and 3 hours at a temperature of 50 to 60 degrees Celsius.
