Hydroxyanigorufone is a phytoalexin that functions as an antioxidant and has been shown to have anticarcinogenic properties in vitro. Hydroxyanigorufone is found in plants from the Fabaceae family, and its biosynthesis is stimulated by the presence of fusarium oxysporum f. Hydroxyanigorufone inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis in vitro through the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are chemically reactive molecules containing oxygen. Hydroxyanigorufone also inhibits cell proliferation by inhibiting protein synthesis through the inhibition of mRNA translation, leading to a decrease in melatonin synthesis. This compound can be used as a pharmaceutical preparation for food poisoning or cancer treatment.
