It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and induce apoptosis in vitro through hydrogen bonding with the fatty acid chains, which leads to membrane disruption. N-Hexadecanoyl-alanine can also react with amide groups, leading to intramolecular hydrogen bonding, which may be responsible for its anti-senescence effects. This chemical also binds to pluronic P123 and cationic surfactants and has been shown to have skin cell regenerative properties.
