Descrição:Trimethylethylthiosulfonate is a fatty acid derivative that has been shown to have antiatherogenic properties. It has been shown to inhibit the oxidation of low-density lipoproteins (LDLs) and the formation of foam cells, which are cells that accumulate in the vascular system and contribute to atherosclerosis. Trimethylethylthiosulfonate is also a potent nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist, which has been shown to increase transportan activity by increasing the number of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This drug has been shown to be effective in knockout mice models with dysfunctional or absent nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. Trimethylethylthiosulfonate may be used as a dietary supplement for weight loss and as an aid for weight control.
