• Descrição: Methyl perfluoropentyl ether is a fluorinated solvent that is used as a cleaner and degreaser. It has high boiling and vapor pressures, but low solubility in water. Methyl perfluoropentyl ether can be used at temperatures up to 160°C, but decomposes at higher temperatures. It reacts with acids to produce inorganic acid salts, such as lithium fluoride, polymerized methyl perfluoropentyl ether, and ester compounds containing chlorine or fluorine atoms. This compound also reacts with chlorine gas to produce hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid. Methyl perfluoropentyl ether reacts readily with lithium metal to release hydrogen gas. It does not react with silicon dioxide or silica gel.
