2'-o-Benzoylpaeoniflorin is a monoclonal antibody that has been shown to reduce the blood glucose level in diabetic mice. It is an effective hypoglycemic agent that works by inhibiting the nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer (NF-κB) pathway, which regulates the inflammatory response and insulin secretion. 2'-o-Benzoylpaeoniflorin also inhibits matrix metalloproteinase activity, thus reducing tissue damage. This drug also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. 2'-o-Benzoylpaeoniflorin has shown efficacy against autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes mellitus, rheumatoid arthritis, and myeloma cell lines.
