1-(1-Benzyl-1H-indol-3-yl)-2,2,2-trifluoroethan-1-one is a potent and selective inhibitor of the enzyme indoleamine 2,3 dioxygenase (IDO). It binds to the active site of IDO and competitively blocks access by L -tryptophan. This compound also prevents the formation of a tetrameric complex between IDO and tryptophan oxygenase. The crystal structure reveals that 1-(1-benzylidenehydrazino)-2,2,2-trifluoroethanone forms a tight binding pocket with an x-ray crystallographic analysis.
