This inhibitor of ion channels inhibits protein interactions and prevents the formation of complexes with ligands and receptors.AZD1940 has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the human ether-a-go-go related gene (hERG) K+ channel, which is responsible for controlling cardiac repolarization. The inhibition of this channel by AZD1940 leads to prolongation of the QT interval on an electrocardiogram.
