The sulfone metabolite of cyclohexylmethyl)(oxolan-2-ylmethyl)amine is conjugated with glucuronic acid and excreted in the urine. The major urinary metabolite is (cyclohexylmethyl)(oxolan-2-ylmethyl)amine, a hydroxy derivative. The major biotransformation pathway for cyclohexylmethyl)(oxolan-2-ylmethyl)amine is hydroxylation followed by conjugation with glucuronic acid. This drug has been shown to be effective in the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by sulfonamide-resistant bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
