Methyl 3-amino-6-bromothieno[3,2-b]pyridine-2-carboxylate is a synthetic drug that has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells. It is also able to induce apoptosis in these cancer cells. This drug has been shown to have antitumor properties in cell lines derived from lung cancer, breast adenocarcinoma and buchwald cell lines. Methyl 3-amino-6-bromothieno[3,2-b]pyridine-2-carboxylate inhibits cycle progression by inhibiting the synthesis of DNA and RNA. It also inhibits cell growth and decreases the viability of tumor cells.
