1-O-Hexadecyl-3-O-benzyl-sn-glycero-2-phosphocholine is a useful building block with versatile applications as a reagent, reaction component, and useful scaffold. It is soluble in organic solvents and can be used as a speciality chemical or research chemical. 1-O-Hexadecyl-3-O-benzyl-sn glycero 2 phosphocholine is also a useful intermediate for the synthesis of complex compounds. 1HOPBPC is an excellent substrate for reactions such as glycosylation, esterification, acylation, alkylation, and carbamoylation. This compound has been synthesized by reacting hexadecyl chloride with 3-(benzyloxy)propanoic acid followed by hydrolysis with sodium hydroxide.
1HOPBPC has not been included in the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
