1-O-Hexadecyl-rac-glycerol is a versatile building block that can be used to synthesize complex compounds. 1-O-Hexadecyl-rac-glycerol belongs to the group of more than 100 different natural glycerols that are produced by animals and plants. This compound can be obtained from natural sources such as soybean oil, palm oil, or coconut oil, or it can be synthesized from glycerin with hexadecanedioic acid chloride in a two step process.
