• Descrição: Tetrahydro-6-undecyl-2H-pyran-2-one is a synthetic pheromone that has been used for mosquito oviposition. It has also been shown to be a potent anticancer drug, with activity against human neuroblastoma cells. Tetrahydro-6-undecyl-2H-pyran-2-one is synthesized from the reaction of 3,4,5,6-tetrahydrofuro[3,2,1]benzopyran and ethyl 2-(methylthio)propanoate. The synthesis scheme is outlined in Figure 1. This compound can be used as an analog for other pheromones because of its high potency and selectivity for specific target organisms.
