It has been shown to be toxic in animal tests, causing damage to the liver, kidney, and central nervous system. Diethylene glycol butyl methyl ether is used as a polymerization initiator in the production of polyurethane plastics, as well as in pharmaceuticals, pesticides, herbicides, and other industrial applications.
