Ethyl 2-iodo-2-methylpropionate is a macroinitiator that is used in the production of polymers with high molecular weights. It is a haloalkyl compound and has been shown to be an efficient initiator for polymerization reactions. Ethyl 2-iodo-2-methylpropionate can be used to produce copolymers of styrene, methyl methacrylate, and dodecyl methacrylate. This product can also be used as a monomer for acrylates and other types of macromonomers. The kinetic parameters for this product have been determined by means of NMR spectroscopy, indicating that it has good reactivity.
