N-(5-Aminopentyl)acetamide is an amine that can be synthesized from the natural amino acid lysine. N-(5-Aminopentyl)acetamide is a precursor of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It has been shown to have chemotherapeutic properties as well as analytical methods, such as electrochemical detection or gas chromatography. N-(5-Aminopentyl)acetamide has been found to be effective in the treatment of disease activity in humans. This drug also has a synthetic pathway, which begins with the conversion of fatty acids to amines by means of a synthetase enzyme and ends with the synthesis of N-(5-aminopentyl)acetamide.
