4-Nitrothiophene-2-carbaldehyde (4NTCA) belongs to the class of nitro compounds. The molecular structure of 4NTCA has been determined by X-ray crystallography, and is a planar molecule with a nitrogen atom in the center and four carbonyl groups on each side. 4NTCA is an organometallic compound that can be used to synthesize heterocyclic rings.
