Fenobam is a drug that is used as an antagonist of glutamate receptor. It binds to the mGluR5 metabotropic glutamate receptor, which inhibits the release of glutamate and the activation of downstream receptors. This leads to decreased locomotor activity in humans. Fenobam also has affinity for the neurokinin-1 receptor, which may account for its analgesic effects.
