Descrição:Monoethyl itaconate is a polycarboxylic acid that is structurally related to fatty acids. It has been shown to have inhibitory properties on the polymerization of vinyl chloride. Monoethyl itaconate has also been used as a cross-linking agent in the production of polyvinyl chloride and as a particle for plastics. This chemical has been shown to inhibit thermal expansion, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules. It is also soluble in ether, chloroform, and benzene.
