5-Benzoyl-1H-1,3-benzodiazole is a derivative of benzodiazole that has been synthesized by reacting benzoyl chloride with hydrogen chloride gas in the presence of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. It is a white crystalline solid that can be obtained by recrystallization from acetone or chloroform/ether mixture.
