6-(4-Chloro-phenyl)-imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole-5-carboxaldehyde is a small molecule that is a member of the class of imidazopyridine derivatives. It has been shown to have insulin sensitizing effects in obese mice and humans, with clinical relevance. The transporter gene for 6-(4-chloro-phenyl)-imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole-5-carboxaldehyde has been identified as SLCO1B3 and it has been shown to be constitutive androstane receptor (CAR) α activated. This drug also transactivates receptor α and promotes the expression of insulin resistance. 6-(4-Chloro-phenyl)-imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole-5-carboxaldehyde enhances the biological function of insulin by increasing its ability to bind to receptors on cells.
