15-Demethylplumieride is a natural compound found in the apocynaceae family. It has been shown to have antifertility effects by inhibiting the synthesis of fatty acids, proteins and DNA. 15-Demethylplumieride inhibits the activity of pancreatic α-amylase, which is an enzyme that breaks down starch into smaller sugar molecules. It also inhibits protocatechuic acid and 3-o-caffeoylquinic acid, two enzymes involved in the synthesis of phenolic compounds. The antiinflammatory and cytotoxic effects of 15-demethylplumieride are due to its inhibitory activities on lymphocyte leukemia cells and active chemical substances.
