2-Amino-5-(trifluoromethoxy)benzimidazole (2-TFB) is a carotid artery dilator. It has been shown to lower blood pressure in rats and mice. 2-TFB is also neuroprotective against cerebral ischemia injury, which may be due to its ability to activate voltage-gated potassium channels. 2-TFB has been shown to potentiate the activity of benzothiazoles in vivo by decreasing the time for calcium activation and increasing the calcium influx rate.
