Arteannuin M is a natural product that is extracted from the plant tissue of Arteannua herba. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. The extract can be fractionated into arteannuin A and B. The active compounds are found in the methanol and supernatant fractions of the extract. These compounds show an ability to inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) activity and reduce inflammation in vitro. Arteannuin M has also been shown to have antioxidative properties by inhibiting lipid peroxidation induced by beta-amyloid peptide (Aβ).
