7-Methyl-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-b]pyridine is a heterocyclic compound that belongs to the pyrrole family. It has a carbon backbone with a pyridine ring and a sequence of seven methyl groups attached to it. 7-Methyl-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-b]pyridine can be used as a drug discovery tool for the development of small molecule inhibitors for catalytic or reductive reactions. The synthesis of this compound is scalable and can be carried out in an environmentally friendly manner. This reaction sequence is bicyclic, with two conformationally distinct forms. The first form is more stable than the second and can be accessed by reacting diamine with acetaldehyde in the presence of base. The second form can be accessed by reacting diamine with acid chloride in the presence of base.
