GDC-0349 has potent anticancer effects and can inhibit protein synthesis in cancer cells via inhibition of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and epidermal growth factor (EGF). The drug also inhibits growth factors such as TGFβ, IL6, and PDGF.
