• Descrição: 1-Benzyl-4-phenylpiperidine-4-carboxylic acid (1BPPC) is a soluble guanylate cyclase activator that is used as a research tool. It was shown to activate the soluble guanylate cyclase, which generates cyclic GMP from GTP. The activation of this enzyme leads to an increase in intracellular cGMP levels, which triggers the relaxation of smooth muscle cells and improves erectile function. 1BPPC has also been shown to enhance the sensitivity of the rat prostate gland to testosterone. This effect may be due to the inhibition of phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which degrades cGMP.
