N-(4-Amino-2-methylphenyl)-4-chlorophthalimide is an antibacterial drug that belongs to the class of ciprofloxacin. The IC50 of this drug in inhibiting bacterial growth at a concentration of 50 μg/mL was 0.5 μM against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. N-(4-Amino-2-methylphenyl)-4-chlorophthalimide has shown to be effective against bacteria that are resistant to ampicillin and erythromycin. It also binds to proteins and inhibits protein synthesis by blocking the 30S ribosomal subunit.
