Hydrocortisone hemisuccinate is a corticosteroid that belongs to the group of glucocorticoids. It is used in the treatment of bowel disease, such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Hydrocortisone hemisuccinate has been shown to have chemical stability in biological reaction solutions and has an anti-inflammatory activity in animal models. The drug has minimal effects on the maternal blood system and does not produce any significant drug interactions when combined with other drugs. Hydrocortisone hemisuccinate also does not cause allergic symptoms or receptor activity, unlike other corticosteroids such as dexamethasone.
