Tyrphostin B44 is an inhibitor of tyrosine kinases. It binds to the ATP binding site on the enzyme and prevents ATP from binding, blocking the phosphorylation of the enzyme's substrate. Tyrphostin B44 has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), which is a key regulator in inflammatory diseases. This drug also has anti-cancer effects by inhibiting lipase, which is required for cancer cell proliferation.
