• Descrição: Pumaprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to treat the symptoms of migraine. It has been found to be clinically effective in treating the symptoms of migraine and is a reversible, oral agent with pharmacokinetic properties similar to those of rizatriptan. Pumaprazole inhibits gastric acid secretion by binding to the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme at the secretory canaliculus, which results in an increase in pH and decreased acidity within the stomach. Pumaprazole also inhibits serotonin 5-HT4 receptors and is being developed for use as an antiemetic.
