It is used as a pre-harvest and post-harvest treatment for control of phytopathogenic fungi in cereals, rice, wheat, maize and other crops. 1-(Difluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazole has been shown to be active against plant pathogenic fungi such as Botrytis cinerea and Rhizoctonia solani. This compound also inhibits the growth of fungi by reacting with metal ions in the cell membrane, forming n-oxides that disrupt the membrane's permeability.
