- Methyl 2-((4-(4-cyclopropylnaphthalen-1-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio)acetate
Methyl {[4-(4-cyclopropyl-1-naphthyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl]sulfanyl}acetate is a reactive dye that is used as a coupling agent for sodium carbonate in the synthesis of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. It has been shown to have no color or odor and can be synthesized from naphthalene, carbon disulphide, and triazole. The reactions are conducted at high temperatures with an excess of sodium carbonate. The reaction yield is dependent on the reaction time and temperature. Methyl {[4-(4-cyclopropyl-1-naphthyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl]sulfanyl}acetate can be synthesized by reacting benzaldehyde with sulfonyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine and pyridine.
