AEBSF•HCl is a cell-permeable molecule that is used as a chemical probe to study the apoptosis pathway. It has been shown to activate the toll-like receptor and induce significant cytotoxicity in human HL60 cells. AEBSF•HCl has also been reported to be an effective treatment for carcinoid syndrome, a disease characterized by uncontrolled growth of hormone-producing cells in the intestines or lungs. AEBSF•HCl induces apoptosis by activating p2y receptors on the surface of white blood cells and stimulating biochemical reactions that lead to cellular death.
