Methyl 4-cyano-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzoate is a cytotoxic compound. It inhibits the growth of cells by interfering with DNA replication and is used as an inhibitor molecule in the study of biological properties. Methyl 4-cyano-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzoate has been shown to inhibit locomotor activity in mice and also has cardiac effects, such as increasing heart rate and blood pressure. This chemical may be toxic for humans due to its acute toxicities, but it does not affect the central nervous system. Methyl 4-cyano-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzoate has been shown to have anticancer effects in vitro and in vivo when combined with cisplatin and doxorubicin.
