Carbuterol is a peptide that is an inhibitor of protein interactions. Carbuterol is an activator of Ligand and receptor interactions and has been used as a research tool for studying ion channels. Carbuterol has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the alpha-adrenergic receptor, which may be due to its ability to increase cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels in cells. Carbuterol has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the proteasome, which is responsible for degrading proteins within cells.
