2-(Methylamino)-2-phenylbutyl-3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate is a drug that acts as an intestinal motility agent. It is orally active and has a hydrochloric acid inhibitory effect on the human stomach. 2-(Methylamino)-2-phenylbutyl-3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate inhibits motility by blocking the action of acetylcholine in the gastrointestinal tract. The drug also acts as an antagonist at opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord. This drug has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on guinea pig ileum and mouse ileum. 2-(Methylamino)-2-phenylbutyl-3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate is metabolized by glucuronidation to its inactive form and can be used in pharmacokinetic studies with animals and humans.
