3'-Geranyl-3-prenyl-2',4',5,7-tetrahydroxyflavone is a flavonoid that is found in the leaves of the plant. It has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on human cervical carcinoma cells and on human breast carcinoma cells. 3'-Geranyl-3-prenyl-2',4',5,7-tetrahydroxyflavone inhibits the growth of these cells by inducing apoptosis (programmed cell death) and inhibiting protein synthesis. 3'-Geranyl-3-prenyl-2',4',5,7-tetrahydroxyflavone also has antiinflammatory properties and can be used as an alternative treatment for breast cancer.
