• Descrição: Sitaxsentan is a natriuretic peptide receptor antagonist that blocks the binding of endothelin-1 to its receptors. It has been shown to have efficacy in animal models of pulmonary hypertension, and clinical trials have also been conducted in humans. In vitro assays have shown that sitaxsentan inhibits the production of endothelin, which may be due to its ability to inhibit toll-like receptor 4 signaling. Sitaxsentan has drug interactions with other drugs that are substrates for the P-glycoprotein transporter, such as verapamil, diltiazem, and chloramphenicol. The drug is not metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and does not interact with the renal organic anion transporter (OAT).
