Ethyl (4-Trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylate is a benzoxazole that inhibits pyrazole dehydrogenase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of pyrazoles to pyrazolones. It also has low selectivity for human and rat enzymes, suggesting it may be useful in treating human and animal diseases. Ethyl (4-trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylate is a potent inhibitor of the growth of bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Acinetobacter baumannii. The substituents on the benzoxazole ring appear to affect its potency as an inhibitor. The halogen group increases potency while the methyl group decreases
