Descrição:JNJ16259685 is a metabotropic glutamate receptor antagonist that was developed as a potential drug target for the treatment of eye disorders. JNJ16259685 is an experimental model for pharmacological treatment of neuronal death and degeneration, and has been shown to decrease locomotor activity in experimental models. JNJ16259685 binds to the metabotropic glutamate receptor type 1 (mglur1) with high affinity and blocks the binding of glutamate to mglur1, which prevents neuronal death. JNJ16259685 has also been shown to be effective against ryanodine receptor-associated diseases by blocking the release of calcium from intracellular stores.
